Biglorryblog: 5 axles deliver for these Range C

One of Tipperary’s leading construction material suppliers, Gleeson Quarries, has taken delivery of its first Renault trucks – two Range C380 10x4s . They are both fitted with Gleeson Steel halfpipe bodies and join the Company’s 40+strong fleet delivering stone, wet mix, sand and gravel across South Tipperary, Kilkenny and Laois in Ireland.

The new Range Cs have a specially-fitted 5th pusher axle, allowing the trucks to handle an increased payload of up to 24.45 tonnes resulting in fewer journeys overall and improved operational efficiency. Renault Trucks’ five-axle combinations, with complete vehicle type approval, meet the demand for heavier applications without the need or expense of retrofitting an additional axle, and come with full warranty and aftermarket support to deliver lower operating costs in the long run.

Gleeson Quarries’ Managing Director, Peter Gleeson, explains why he opted for the Range Cs: “Where other manufacturers could only offer us a tag axle, Renault Trucks were able to supply a specially-fitted pusher axle. Having the 5th axle in the centre is better suited to our particular operation and it is far more versatile, for example, tipping into paving machines for road works.”
