Old Italian Fiat trucks. Biglorryblog gets an offer he can’t refuse…from Sicily

Sicily%201.JPGFollowing Biglorryblog’s recent postings on old Fiat trucks, Globe-trotting wagon driver Nick Garlick has sent me these snaps from his recent trip to Sicily. Sicily4.JPGNick tells me: “I came across these three excellent ‘proper Misters motors’ sheltering from the midday sun in Palermo port. Enjoy!” For more ancient Italians click through here…

Sicily3.JPGThis slightly ‘younger’ 8×2 (the Italians were big fans of steering rear axles on both rigids and trailers) is clearly on the cusp of Fiat/Iveco badging…Sicily6.JPGAnd here’s the same rear steer set-up on the six-wheeler Fiat. Note the ‘trilex’ wheels (i.e. with separate rims) quite popular in Italy in the 70s 80s but they never caught on in any degree over here..Sicily2.JPGAnd last but not least that iconic Italian grille….and thanks Nick from BLB.Sicily7.JPG
