Duel documentary investment sought

There can’t be many of our readers who have never watched the iconic trucking film, Duel. What many won’t know is just how significant Duel was in the history of film making, not just as Steven Spielberg’s first offering. Now, a group of British enthusiasts are planning to make a documentary on the story behind the film and the cult that still surrounds it, and you can be part of it. Opportunities to pledge contributions to the project are now being offered on the Kickstarter seed funding site.
A key part of the documentary is the story of Derek Drinkwaters of Surrey, who bought a suitable Peterbilt off eBay, drove it across the US and shipped it to the UK, before converting it into a replica of the mysterious film truck. A trailer for the documentary can be seen here.
To allow the documentary to be made this summer, the makers need to raise £60,000 by 3 April. Through Kickstarter, you can join the backers with a pledge of as little as £5. To find out more, visit the Kickstarter website.
