Clean Air Zone Roadshow coming to Leeds

T&D sister title Motor Transport is holding a half-day Clean Air Zone (CAZ) Roadshow for HGV operators in Leeds on 3 July.

This free-to-attend event will give operators the chance to engage with senior staff at Leeds City Council about the proposals for a charging CAZ within the outer ring road.

The Leeds proposal is looking at charging non Euro-6 HGVs (over 3.5 tonnes) a daily fee to enter the city centre. Buses, coaches and taxis are also included in the plans, but not small vans or cars.

An exact amount has not yet been determined, but Leeds City Council has asked for feedback on plans to adopt the same charging regime as London’s pending Ultra Low Emission Zone for HGVs, set at £100 per day.

The event will bring together vehicle manufacturers, technology experts and freight operators to discuss practical ways to get fleets ready for CAZs.

Delegates will hear from Leeds City Council’s own fleet manager about the extensive trials they have carried out with alternative fuels, as well as learn about funding and rental options.

In addition, there will be a lively workshop about the role of retrofit in upgrading fleets for CAZs. Delegates will hear from retrofit firms about the timescales for HGV options to receive official accreditation for use in CAZs, and which vehicles these will be suited to.

There will also be an extensive display of alternative fuel and Euro-6 HGVs outside for delegates to explore and learn about from manufacturers.

The event will be held on 3 July at Elland Road Stadium, Leeds from 9am to 1pm and is free to attend. Find out more and register today if you’d like to attend. [https://motortransport.co.uk/clean-air-zone-roadshow-leeds/]
