Biglorryblog: Skinners Brewery and Isuzu thirst response team

Truro community brewery Skinner’s Brewing Company has  taken its second  Isuzu, this time an Isuzu N65.150 manual 4×2 rigid truck, which is being used for the distribution of the company’s beer products to the Cornish coastal towns of Looe and Polperro, where road access can be extremely narrow in places.

As part of the new vehicle specification, Skinner’s Brewery  has fitted a narrow dray body to the Isuzu so that the width of the body is no wider than the width of the truck cab. Yet due to the Isuzu’s low overall GVW, this vehicle has the capacity to carry an impressive payload of just over 3 tonnes.

Both of the Skinner’s Isuzus have been supplied by local Isuzu dealer T Harvey,  who also arranged for the specialist narrow dray body to be built by Redruth manufacturer South West Commercials.

As Skinner’s Brewery transport manager Andrew Prynn explains, “The compact footprint of the Isuzu 6.5tonne Forward is ideal for this particular distribution route and the final chassis/body specification enables us to maximise on the payload carried, so we can optimise our journey routes in this part of coastal Cornwall, whilst also reducing potential body damage.”

Featuring Skinner’s Bewery’s distinctive and highly visible bright red  livery, this latest Isuzu will have a working life of approximately five year as a company undertakes a rolling programme of fleet replacement.

“We now have two Isuzus in our fleet and both are giving us excellent service, whilst the relationship we have with our local Isuzu dealer is absolutely first-class. T Harvey is a joy to deal with and they make our life so much easier,” added Andrew Prynn.
